Dr. Karen GarcĂa has over 20 years experience in the development of organizations and community programs across United States and Puerto Rico. Her expertise in social science research methods, general systems theory and participatory educational methods makes her a unique practitioner and change facilitator.
As an educator, her experience in higher education includes designs of internship programs in human services, and exploration of innovative learning environments breaching the chasm between theory and practice. Her social sciences background surpasses the disciplines of education, psychology, and business administration which she has taught in higher education institutions. She centers her practice on issues of gender equity, economic parity, ethnic relations, and mental health. She is also currently concerned with the widespread use of technology within learning environments, and with its associated cultural transformation.
As a practitioner Karen looks at large social units as a resource and network builder. Her experience in social systems design includes solid experience in federal, state and private grantwriting, program design and evaluation.
